Teaching the National Curriculum is a requirement for all state schools. However, there is considerable flexibility about the balance of content and the methods used to teach this.
At Barford we apply a question-led approach to teaching and learning. Our curriculum is rich with questions and exploring answers. We highly value vocabulary and promote the use of words for impact across all subjects.
We also link learning across subjects in our topic coverage, encouraging creativity and self-challenge alongside continued high expectations of achievement in English, mathematics and science. This broad curriculum, based on enquiry and active learning, gives us our distinctive character and underpins our rising academic standards.
Below, you will find links to more detail about different aspects of our curriculum offer.
The following link outlines our current curriculum map for the academic year 2018-19. Where possible, we try to link subjects under topic titles, but some subjects continue to be taught discretely.
